CheFuKo is currently supporting single parent families who are facing difficult circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have partnered with the non-profit organization Single Mothers Forum to send emergency food kits to single parent families.
We recently asked our supporters for their cooperation, and also promoted Single Mother Forum’s charity fund through our Facebook page. We are thankful for all the kind responses we received.
In addition to the donations from our supporters, we visited Single Mothers Forum to present a total of 300,000 yen in donations.

We also had the opportunity to learn more about the current circumstances faced by single parent families.
・The COVID-19 pandemic has led to worsening conditions of employment. In April, the rate of dismissal was 4~5%, which has now increased to 6~7%.
・Single Mothers Forum has appeared on television to discuss single parent-related issues, leading to an increasing number of phone calls. During April to June alone, the organization has responded to three times as many calls as the previous year. In total, the organization expects an increase of seven to eight times as many phone calls by the end of the year.
・Most calls are related to food-related problems, such as not having enough rice.
・Single Mothers Forum typically conducts employment support and business manner workshops. The organization is currently considering holding online workshops, which will allow single parents from all over the country to participate. The organization is currently looking for new ways to adapt to the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
・The organization also provides single fathers with food assistance. They are looking for more ways to connect single fathers and create a forum for them to speak.
・Single Mothers Forum will continue to strive towards creating a support network beyond Tokyo by collaborating with local organizations across Japan.
