As a country which experienced its own nuclear accident, Ukraine shares a unique connection with CheFuKo’s main location of support, Fukushima. Since our establishment in 2013, we have visited Ukraine each year to donate supplies and perform thermotherapy.
This year, however, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it impossible to travel to Ukraine. As an alternative measure, we worked with our Ukrainian partner to deliver medical equipment needed to combat the coronavirus to hospitals, kindergartens, and schools (see our previous blog post here). Our support was made possible thanks to contributions from our donors. We would like to express our deepest gratitude.
The number of coronavirus cases continues to increase in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government lacks the resources to establish anti-coronavirus measures in kindergartens and schools, leaving families and individuals to find coping methods instead. CheFuKo has chosen to support these schools by donating approximately 500,000 yen to fund the purchase of hand driers, automatic soap dispensers, germicidal lamps, thermometers, face shields, and vacuum cleaners (needed to maintain a sanitary environment).
We would like to thank everyone again for their continued support.
CheFuKo will continue to do our best to support children across the world!
