The turbulent year of 2020 is finally over. It’s now the start of a new year, 2021!

What are your plans and hopes for this year? While the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, a vaccine is on its way at the end of February. We hope that we can all do our best to stay healthy until the pandemic is finally over.

This coming May is CheFuKo’s 8th-year anniversary. We have always used our blog, social media accounts, and activity reports as vehicles for sharing our organization’s activities; however, this year we are launching a new initiative to better share CheFuKo’s values and mission with the world.

Our newest blog series will introduce components of our daily lives at the CheFuKo office in Ochanomizu. We will talk about what our work environment is like, what kind of tasks we engage in, and anything else that comes to mind! Each month, we will be picking a different topic to cover in detail.

Here is the theme for our first installment of our new series, CheFuKo Dailies!
“Introducing the Office”
Our office lies right in the center of Tokyo, Chiyoda-ku.
It is located on the 8th floor of the Ochanomizu First Building, neighboring Meiji University and the headquarters of the Chemical Society of Japan.

 

 

 

 

 

We’ve stepped off the elevator and made it to the office door.

 

Now let’s head inside!

 

 

 

 

 

The first thing you will notice after entering the office are the photographs on the left-hand wall and the variety of objects sitting on the table beneath them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These are items we have brought back from Nepal, one of the countries where we conduct our aid activities.
The colorful bags and pouches were made by the women at WSDO (Women’s Skills Development Organization), a Nepali NGO focused on empowering women through skill development.

The table next to this one is stacked with informational pamphlets and copies of our newsletter, CheFuKo Tsushin.

Turning around, you will see a white wall covered with posters and photographs. These depict the various people we have met over the years and the various activities we have engaged in.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

By looking at these photographs, we can recall the people we’ve met over the years and how we felt during these experiences.

And as they say, a picture is worth a thousand years. These pictures are an excellent way of showing all of you what kind of activities our important to us at CheFuKo.
